Next week I travel to Kashmir to meet with local people and NGOs to learn about the human right abuses and consequences of the ongoing denial of self-determination.
Indian novelist Arundhati Roy has described Kashmir as “the most densely militarised zone in the world”. This was in a 2013 interview on Democracy Now.
Roy has spoken of the similarity between the plight of Kashmiris and Palestinians. Israel is the second largest supplier of arms to India. The drones, spy satellites, bombs, weapons, assault rifles and ammunition Israel supplies are often tailor made for “pacifying” occupied Kashmir.
And now the Modi government plans to build Israeli style settlements in Kashmir.
